    Filled with tons of unique enemies, creepy locations and memorable dialogue, Rising was a blast to play from start to finish. What struck me most was the unique mechanic that allowed players to, through carefully timed manuvers, cause enemies to aggro each other instead of the player; Not only did this make the game a surprisingly strategic experience, it also prevented the dull "avoid and shoot" situations other Rogue-Likes too often devolve into. At merely 4$, this game is an aboslute steal and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh and exciting experience!. I want to really like this game but unfortunately its gameplay feels incredibly inconsequential. When you can easily just run past most enemies and combat encounters, instead opting to just dodge out of the way of huge enemy swarms only for them to hit and attack one another (ala old Doom, i.e. when an enemy's attack hits another enemy on accident, they fight each other until one of them is dead) while you breeze by toward the next computer to unlock a door or the exit itself, it makes the game feel rather pointless. The music and pixel art isn't bad by any means, and there are a variety of enemies you encounter, but the base gameplay feels pretty bland with very inaccurate and unamusing guns and sword swings at your disposal. You're also given a dodge roll, but you're almost better off just trying to utilize the regular run and go around the enemy's attack range since using the dodge causes your character to temporarily stop. Reloading your guns also causes your character to stop dead in his tracks, allowing enemies to close the distance.

    While this makes for some tension, most all of it is robbed when you realize you're better off just running around the enemies and avoiding the combat altogether. If the combat had some kind of reward system beyond the enemies dropping health or ammo (neither of which you will be expending much of if you just run around them..) such as a monetary or credit system to buy upgrades with then maybe the gameplay would be more complex or rewarding.

    As-is it's a pretty average game with the benefit of an 8-bit aesthetic if you're into that retro \/ genre look, which I am hence being interested in this game from the start, but for me the gameplay is pretty lame and lacks much incentive to bother with.. Fix X One controller support and I'm happy to give it two thumbs up.

    A major upgrade of Battle Brawlers has been released. New gameplay "Guild League" got online grandly!




    Monthly Guild League contains 5 periods - Registeration, Preliminary, Semi-Finals, Final Time and Offseason.

    All guilds can register for Guild League. After the Preliminary period, the top 200 guilds are qualified to enter the Semi-Finals. During the cruel battles of Semi-Finals most guilds will get knocked out and only 24 guilds have the honor of entering the Final Time. The last guild standing will be honored with title "The Strongest Guild" of the month and guild members will receive generous awards!

City Backdrop: Languard


Storied Languard--capital of Ashlar and its greatest city--stands hard against Hard Bay's turbulent, stormy waters. To the north lies the Mottled Spire's brooding spray-drenched mass, the curse-haunted ruins of Greystone and Gloamhold's doom-wreathed halls. Ashlar's greatest--indeed only--city, Languard is a noisy, dirty place. Here, amid broad, muddy streets teeming with life and shadow-mantled, danger-filled alleyways there is little beneath the sun that cannot be had somewhere--for a price.

Few Languardians overly concern themselves with the brooding terrors lurking within Gloamhold's halls, but for others, the legendary, benighted ruin draws them to Languard as a moth to a flame. For within Languard's stout walls live, plot and scheme a surprising number of adventurers, freebooters and mercenaries all lured here by the treasures said to lie but a scant few miles to the north.

  • G1 Low Gate: Low Gate is always busy, choked with a multitude of carts piled high with trade goods.
  • G3 Traitor's Gate: "Decorated" with the remains of traitors to the crown, Traitor's Gate is well named.
  • L1 Low Market: A bustling market fills this muddy space.
  • L2 Vonya's Span: Of dwarven craft--and reputedly haunted--Vonya's Span is the only bridge spanning the Svart.
  • L3 The Scythe: The one-legged Arvo Outila runs this drinking den renown for live music.
  • T1 Fane of the Waves Eternal: Here Serat's worshippers commune with the ocean's eternal glory.

High City Locations:

  • G2 River Gate: These two towers oversee all river traffic.
  • G4 Duke's Gate: The least-used of Languard's gates. Only those traveling northwards use this gate.
  • H1 Castle Languard: Family Nenonen's seat.
  • H2 High Market: Those with a taste for the finer things in life come to High Market.
  • H3 Urmas' House: The aged sage Urmas--one of Ashlar's greatest authorities on Gloamhold--dwells here.
  • H4 The Dreaming Spires: Ashlar's centre of learning, the library here is only matched by that held at the Black Tower.
  • T2 The Father's Hall: A cathedral dedicated to Conn's worship and the centre of his faith in Ashlar.
  • T3 The Great Forge: A clamour of noise and smoke perpetually rises above Abarin's temple-forge.
  • T4 Watcher's Spire: Darlen's followers dwell in this fortified temple.

Fishshambles Locations:

  • F1 The House of Sighs: Seeking shelter in this almshouse is little better than living on the streets.
  • F2 The Drunken Sailor: A popular dockside tavern.

Shambles Locations:

  • S1 Raisa's Curios: Idle adventurers often come here to browse the eclectic range of goods on offer.
  • S2 The Bloody Eagle: A seemingly destitute merchants runs this tavern, which is a Shadow Mask front.

Wrecks Locations:

  • W1 Duranki's: The Duranki family will ferry (unwary, too-trusting) adventurers to Gloamhold, for a fee.
  • W2 The Fallen Maid: Here dwells one of Ashlar's pre-eminent assassins.

For me, the best Shadowrun game is still the Genesis Shadowrun, but for an X com style tactical rpg game, Dragonfall's pretty good.

. Combat is lackluster but the story and setting carry that weight. Worth playing if cyberpunk interests you.. I'd always heard on the grapevine that Dragonfall was a great RPG, but even that doesn't do it justice. The settings is nuts - cyberpunk + magic (for those not familiar with tabletop Shadowrun). The writing is outstanding - blowing many other games out of the water. It should be recommended reading for narrative designers and game writers everywhere. The game is far too linear and railroaded but its writing shines through of all this. It's quite short and is one of few RPG games that left me hoping for much more - rather than feeling it was bloated\/stretched out. If you haven't tried it yet - I can't recommend it enough. It's better than Shadowrun Returns in every possible way and you can start the series here. The rest of this review goes into more detail.

WRITING

Shadowrun's writing is amazing. What stands out is how succinct and captivating the style is. Conversations feel natural and deep, but also short. There are no 'lore dumps', and in fact you will often *want* to know more information. The writing is very different in that sense from some other amazingly written games (e.g Planescape Torment, Betrayal at Krondor) which feel much more like novels. The writing also has similar emotional power to the likes of the Witcher series and you quickly become personally invested in the tale its telling. All this whilst covering complex issues such as transhumanism, racism and loss. And when the game wants to be funny, it's *really* funny.

The companions Glory, Eiger, Dietrich and Blitz are a particular highlight. They each have personalities and histories to uncover over the course of the game. The cyberware covered Glory is particularly brilliant - her story being truly heart wrenching. In many RPGs - one of the things I criticise is how "phoned-in" some of the companions feel. They have little interaction with the main game path. This by contrast is something Dragonfall does well. By having so few characters, it's able to weave their stories with your own far more effectively. I only wish there was *more* of it and that their development continued for longer and more gradually over more companion quests.

GAMEPLAY

Gameplay in Dragonfall is composed largely of two things. Turn based combat and dialogue. The areas are quite small so exploration does not play a major role and the game is extremely linear. Whilst the game does reward you for combing through its small levels, its linearity is definitely its weakest point. Whilst you can choose to do various shadowruns\/quests in different orders - the actual maps are so small that everything can feel railroaded. You also can't stumble on quest objectives in advance - everything must be completed in order (which adds to this railroaded feeling).

The turn based combat is very entertaining and can be genuinely challenging as well. Finding cover from gunfire is essential to avoid brutal critical hits. Careful positioning and battlefield control is needed to succeed. Magical healing can only heal the last would you sustained - with anything else requiring medkits (which are finite per mission). Similarly you need finite resources to restore knocked out party members and health don't restore automatically outside combat. These healing and revival items compete for inventory space with for example grenades\/shaman summons - so there are always tough decisions to make on every mission. Do I bring more offence or defence?

Character development is well fleshed out as well. There are class templates, but you can also break out of these and have complete freedom to mix things up. You'll be deciding which attributes and corresponding skills to focus on. They are broadly: Strength (close combat), quickness (ranged weapons), intelligence (biotech, decking, drones) willpower (hermetic magic, chi), charisma (conjuration, summoning) or body (constitution\/cybernetic implants). Your build will be defined by the exact spread of your choices which determines the abilities you can learn from vendors. Whilst the game seems to give you a lot of karma points with which to level your character (the equivalent of XP) - there is only enough to really level a couple of skills. You're forced to make choices and can't have everything - which is *essential* in RPGs and something many developers seem to have forgotten.

You don't level companions in the same way as the main character - they have predetermined skills and stats they focus on (based on their archetype\/background) that automatically level when they level. When they level up you may choose a new ability for them (out of a choice of two). These are often unique and not available to the main character. In addition, you can still buy abilities from vendors (as you would for the main character) and equip companions with them in missions if they have the necessary stats and skills to use them. It's a great system that keeps companions feeling unique. One criticism is that it would have been great to have had more ability to customise companion weapons.

One major area for improvement is the inventory. The game distinguishes between character inventories and the global 'stash' and during missions its not possible to switch items between characters which is extremely annoying (and just makes no sense). In general, a much improved inventory system is needed. This is somewhat but not completely fixed in the sequel. Similarly it would have been great to have an option to explicitly enter\/exit turn based combat mode - an issue that is also partly resolved in the sequel.

Dialogue in Dragonfall is strong (as said before from a writing perspective its amazing). Character skills and stats are frequently tested - opening up multiple ways of solving quests and expressing player personalities. The game does however frequently create the illusion of choice - multiple skill checked dialogue paths frequently lead to exactly the same outcome for example. One frustrating aspect (not fixed in the sequel) is that you can't scroll backwards in a conversation to see what's been said previously.

TECHNICAL:

Technically Shadowrun is a simple and tight isometric title. It's art style and character models are basic - but they work and the quality of the design shines through these limitations. The character portraits are particularly excellent and worthy of mention as they massively enhance immersion (given the simpler character models). I also enjoyed the electronic soundtrack a great deal. Spell effects and other special effects are serviceable. I encountered no significant bugs or instabilities over my playthrough.

My only major complaint is that the game engine has a very annoying limitation that you can't save whilst your character is moving\/interacting with anything. This actually remains true in the sequel. It would have been nice to resolve this clunky issue.. I really like the atmosphere of this game, the battle mechanics and the story.
It's nice and slow but interesting and thought should be given to each move.
It's like a story book as much as anything else... I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a nice slow thinker.. Excellent storyline, multiple endings, and a fun cyberpunk setting. Easily one of the best RPGs I have ever played, and the community-added content just adds to the longevity of this title. Highest possible recommendation.. This series is weak.. Iz goud

Some fun missions, interesting characters (with own sidemissions), decent story.. Too vulgar, swearing so stopped playing it. I was expecting a lot more from this game. In the end what really soured the experience were the following: Confusing dialog trees, awful inventory management, and game altering bugs. It had some fantastic bones and intermittent stellar dialog. If only they could have made the dialog more concise and get rid of a lot of dead spots in the game it would have left me more able to respect the great things they did with the game. Just didn't go far enough, even for an older game. So close to being a recommend but I just can't... Ends up wasting to much of my time and the endings fall flat.

Although there is a logic to this game, it's not obvious and can be frustrating at times. After playing through the first few levels I've found that although it can be a relaxing chilled game (when not frustrating), it's neither really challenging nor much fun.

I'll be taking advantage of the Steam returns policy on this one.. This game uses Google Analytics without asking for consent nor giving an option to disable this.. Splice is an interesting puzzle game. It isn't groundbreaking; however, everything about it screams original. Without giving too much away (there is not an instruction manual - part of the joy is discovering how it works), the game is to arrange cell parts (?) into a set orientation by moving the pieces. Each puzzle has a set number of moves (splices) that you can make. Then to top it off, there are some puzzles that have "angelic" solutions. These are denoted by a "jingle" playing when you open them and the "Splice" logo flashing in the corner. These puzzles can be solved in less than the given number of moves for an "angelic" solution.

The first part of the game has seven sequences, with each sequence having seven strands. Forty-nine puzzles; twenty-five have angelic solutions. Then the fun really begins. There are four epilogue sequences with seven strands each. Twenty-eight more puzzles; eighteen of them angelic. These are much more complex and almost seemingly not possible. But they all can be done, and all the angelic solutions do exist.

As I said, the game is not groundbreaking but screams originality. The interface is extremely elegant and functional. It does yell out for a tablet conversion. The ambient music is fantastic. This is a great game to check out if you love puzzle games.. looks & sounds gorgeous, even if I don't fully grasp how the cells re-configure themselves after each splice. Melt your \u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665ing brain. Melt it and you'll love it. 10\/10. To it's credit Splice offers a very novel puzzle game involving the creation of cell lines. The concept is relatively simple, fill in the outline of each cell line with your individual cells which propogate either 1 or 2 children. The game has very attractive graphics and an average ambient piano music to complement it. Both the Steam Overlay and widescreen modes are also natively supported. Unfortunately, Splice is marred by the lack of a tutorial, presenting you with new cell types without telling you how to interact with them or what they do. The result is a frustrating experience of trial and error with a difficulty level that has sharp peaks and valleys. While I was able to easily complete the first stage, by the second stage I was presented with puzzles that I absolutely could not figure out. Had the game done a better job of explaining how to play I probably would have gotten more enjoyment out of it. As it stands, Splice is an attractive but flawed title.. Experimental & artistic puzzles; Every level have number of cells to rearrange into a target structure by limited several moves.

Solve your way to the final stages and you'll be filled with mental accomplishment.

It is a good starter pack to begin with. I heard that there are free ones available online, you can go and google it. I bought this one, and oh well...you need to buy it early in the game, if not it is useless (when all things become more expensive).

To what I understand, one of the benefits - Improve Magic Well - this is not a permanent improvement. Mine seemed to wear off and now back to normal :( I guess I need to check with the developer or other friends to see if this is supposed to have permanent effect.. If you love fast paced hidden object quests then this one is very good.
Graphically ... very pleasing with loads of quests.
Only down side I seen so far is it runs out of energy fast and always wants money to
top it up... but don't they all :)
. This DLC is worth it but only for new players, as stated in other review at a later date this is worth nothing but... When you first start a again on Wanderland you got loads of offers on the right side of the screen (well I did) stuff like 99 cent rubies and other packs for under a $5\/\u00a35. One of these offers is for the first 24 hours I got everything (only for the first purchace) for only 1 rubie.

I ended up buying all the chest because you got a lot of helpful stuff and I also brought the energy that increases you total amount.

I hope this help new people coming to this game as it fun if annoying at times waiting for energy rebuild lol.

A delightful little game from RPG Maker that you can tell a lot of care and effort was put in to creating. Really reminds one of how much fun can be had from an overhead rpg style game, like the early days of gaming. Excited to see what else comes from Wildwood!. Fantasy Realm is a great start to a sandbox like JRPG. There are a ton of great elements that are pulled from the genres and will provide the player with a an expansive experience even though it set in the classic JRPG setting. For the price, and if the game creator continues to refine the game, it's and easy buy and I would highly recommend!

The whole game is grinding through corridors or areas full of enemies, you kill millions of them(literraly). Anyway Let's say quest is to get from point a to point b. You'll get in area full of enemies kill everyone and then get to the other area which is 90% same(might have new enemies, and level design changed like 10%) , this happens 3 times in a row, then you get in different area with some new enemies and grind through it 3 times. And it goes over and over and over again... I Speedran the whole♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ran through all enemies without killing many, and finally after 5h of running thorugh areas and not even trying to grind anything I got to final boss. Guess what!!! It had 3 more eras... so I done same♥♥♥♥♥♥over and over and over again... After 20h I have speedran those 4 eras and got to final boss. Guess what!!! Killing him is meaningless, I got a bad ending, and now I have to repeat those 4 eras from begginng again on normal difficulty which is unlocked now... (you can only play on easy then starting game for the first time so it forces you to repeat everything) ... I gave up at this point. Even if I beated those 4 eras on normal, You gussed it - you have to beat those 4 areas again on hard... This is beyond insane. What were the developers thinking??? Who would grind this repetitive mess anyway. Can't believe I beated it on easy. What's interesting is what half of other 3 eras territories and quests are locked for your era's character so game has like 4 different campgains which each are very little different, but still it adds a bit replayability if you can call it that way...

Anyway to sum whole gameplay up - If I didn't speedran, and Killed all enemies on all areas the game to beat on easy would have took me around 100h. And if I wanted the best ending I had to replay it 2 more times which then in total playtime would be around 300h. But if I wanted to beat it with all 4 characters then the game would have taken me around 1200h.
So yea If you want to 100% this game, it will take around 1200h, good luck with that if you're stupid enough to begin with this game.

Well it has really a lot of content even through everything is almost the same. and it is fun for first 5 hours so:
6/10. Clunky and quite punishing (partly because of the clunkiness) but still funny, LAN multi works for my husband and me, and the backgrounds and characters don't look so bad :). A very underrated game that looking back was a truer (3-d diablo 1/2) than diablo 3 was.. I purchased two copies of this game so as to play multiplayer with friends. Multiplayer lags horribly if you are not host, even with a properly configured lan. The singleplayer is not worth playing either. Please check out the demo before buying.. I think this is one of the most underrated AARPGs of all time. The inferface is clunky and the story is generic, but the action is great, the bosses are epic, and the gear is amazing looking (for its time, the gfx are getting progressively more and more dated). Don't let my puny 11.5 discourage you --- I played this game A TON from the disc copy and did multiple playthroughs on a norse warrior and a playthrough each for Aztec and Egyptian. I'd love to love the ringtossing Greek, but the physics on the ring never gelled for me. This game is $10 and worth every penny -- if you can get it for less it's a must have.. This game must be a ♥♥♥♥ing joke.
It is full of bugs, like, you use up a mana potion and it crashes....
Also, the multiplayer function is only for LAN.
IF you manage to make the multiplayer work, only the host gets the items, so it's impossible to play along with your friends if you want to develop together and yet, you can't use mp pots (so I couldn't advance enough to see other bugs).
Sucks hard even though the game seems good.
